You found it!
WELCOME! This is hopefully a continuation of a conversation or interaction we've had. While I'm not super techy or super 'social' I enjoy meaningful human connection.Following are some things I've been reflecting on as I find myself viewed in the role of an 'art-ish' individual. The short version is I simply enjoy creating. There's always a story - sometimes the words escape me - sometimes I ramble. I hope the work speaks for itself.Inspirations
You will recognize forms and concepts found in nature and see a combination of abstract and illustrative elements as I explore all sorts of thoughts and themes. I am especially drawn to moving parts, creatures, plants, words, and anatomy.Approach
Intentional - whimsical - methodical - experimental. (All of the buzz? words...) It is its very own process and I learn something new with each step. Flowing between engineering builds and fanciful what‐ifs - sometimes I get a little obsessive - apparently this is called a study 😉My Clay Journey
As a life-long creator I have an appreciation for all art. In 2021 I discovered a love for handbuilt ceramics after attending a workshop at Acorn Haven in Lascassas, TN.To continue learning and refining my clay skills I sought out local workshops. Including ones guided by Kay Currie, Nan Jacobsohn, Nelson Grice, Darby Lewis and most recently Asia Mathis. Name dropping/fangirling - same same - just giving credit for the wisdom they shared. Check them out - they are pretty awesome! In November 2023, I was honored to begin a technical apprenticeship under my mentor Dawna Kinne Magliacano. It is in her memory that I dedicate this page and my continued pursuit of clay crafting and the understanding of the art of ceramics. 🌻Opening posts will be like peeking into my journals as I document my process and projects. Sometimes you will see spiders... consider this your twFollowing this passion often consists of late night research and rabbit holes, e.g., whistle acoustics & glaze chemistry. All balanced with a full-time work schedule while still spending quality time with my wonderfully understanding and supportive husband (love of my life/River Man/sounding board/partner in time), my family, hiking with the Q - our cat, & the chickens that have challenged my ability to grow a garden. Maybe next year...Grateful to be part of this community of creators.[email protected]
